The better the challenges of climate change in Waitaha/Canterbury are understood, the more they're shaping local government decisions.
In the near future, low-emission choices will become the default because they will be easy to make. For now, here are some of the ways we’re already making changes, as well as adapting to our changing climate here in Waitaha/Canterbury:

Waitaha/Canterbury is a unique, diverse and majestic place to live, work and play. We value this region and all it has to offer, which is why our regional, city and district councils are actively preparing for climate risks such as rising temperatures, extreme storms, wildfires, drought, sea level rise and coastal erosion.
While the changing climate may pose some risks to the places we love across our region, together we can plan to adapt and protect our people and our valuable resources.
